More material from one of my new favourites, expect a lot more posts like this one and the one prior. @fortyfourfores delivers a track that is absolutely rich in both lyrical and instrumental content. The title “Ce n’est pas bon“, French for “It’s not good” is the complete opposite of what this song actually is.
Fore describes the background of this track on his tumblr blog here, be sure to give that a read. If I may steal some of what he had to say though; the song’s verses are different and cover his feelings about being a young privileged African to leaving his homeland of Zimbabwe to now creating a work of his hands in the form of this project “Going Back Is Not The Same As Staying”.
Finally, as a beatmaker myself, can I just salute Fore for the aural pleasure that this song is. It’s hip hop, while still being firmly rooted in the influences of the African continent and an absolute pleasure to listen to.
