South Africans weren’t the only peoples celebrating their artists at the weekend; Zambia held its inaugural Zambia Music Awards. Many other awards shows have been in place prior to this one but this one promised to be the biggest and best aiming to honour and represent Zambian music in the best way possible recognising artists in a total of 31 different categories.
Happily, we can report that Hip Hop is clearly running things in Zambia with a total of 9 awards going to Hip Hop artists.
A major achievement & talking point being that the artist Slap D absolutely cleaned house taking home 6 awards.
Best Gospel Album: Mizu - Pompi
Best Male Gospel Artist: Pompi

Pompi earned recognition as the best that Zambian Gospel has to offer meaning Hip Hop has clearly cemented its place in the heart of the Zambian music fan. Pompi’s album has been hailed far and wide for its excellence not just as a Gospel or Hip Hop album but for its musicality alone.
